Skiiers and Snowboarders alike are ecstatic as Aspen Mountain will remain open one week longer than originally scheduled. March was notably warm and mostly dry, receiving only 30 inches of snow, yet 17 inches of fresh snowfall during the first week of April was enough to extend the ski area's operation for one week. Rather than closing April 16th, Aspen Mountain of Aspen Snowmass resorts will remain open through Sunday, April 23rd. All other mountains will close as scheduled.
Aspen Snowmass Resort is comprised of four mountains, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk, each within a short drive of each other in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Aspen Mountain is nestled in the heart of Aspen and offers skiers and snowboarders 675 acres of skiable terrain, with a vertical rise of 3,267 feet (996 meters). This prestigious mountain has hosted World Cup races and is located just steps from Downtown Aspen.
Aspen Mountain offers tourists and locals alike the perfect opportunity to hit the slopes then indulge in glamorous, yet comforting apres ski cuisine. Located at the base of Silver Queen Gondola, you can enjoy a decadent Ajax double cheeseburger and truffle fries at Ajax Tavern. For a more upscale spot to unwind from a full day of hitting the slopes, enjoy locally sourced gourmet cuisine with an exquisite flair at Aspen's "finest spot to wine, dine and unwind" at Element 47 located inside The Little Nell, Aspen's only five-star, five-diamond hotel. In conjunction with the extended week that Aspen Mountain will remain open, the Sundeck Restaurant, at the top of Aspen Mountain via Silver Queen Gondola, has extended their hours of operation so you can enjoy their world-famous made-to-order stir fry while overlooking stunning views of Aspen Highlands and Highlands Bowl.
